Classroom Door Artwork

I’m moving to a new school this year and I’ve spent a lot of time in my new classroom getting things organised and sorted out, just the way I like them.  I saw a great idea over at Teach Preschool, melted crayon art and decided to try…

I read that crayola brand crayons melt the best, so I organised them onto the canvas and secured them using superglue.

The fun part was melting the crayons. Using a hairdryer on a low heat, low fan setting I heated the crayons and watched them melt. Once the crayons were warm they melted quite quickly, creating a streaky artwork for my classroom door…

 

I think this might be a fun art activity to try with my students.  I’m interested to see what they might come up with…
